Outside of major cities, the days of your neighborhood cinema presenting a Halloween marathon may be over, but streaming has brought in a new era. Boils and ghouls need not fret; we have this year's top Halloween movies available for streaming.
A great horror movie marathon has been planned for you based on what is currently streaming on today's top services after we painstakingly went through each service with a scalpel. A weekend of horrors is in store, so pop some popcorn and put some garlic by the door.
House on Haunted Hill (1959)
The House on Haunted Hill has more terrifying scenes in just 75 minutes than most two-hour movies. A millionaire promises five people $10,000 if they agree to spend the night imprisoned in a rented home with a sinister past. Vincent Price plays the millionaire. It's amazing how effective the movie's timing and effects are even by today's standards. Try your luck with this timeless black-and-white picture.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Start your marathon with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, one of the funniest surrealist horror comedy musicals ever. This Halloween movie, which celebrates cosmetics, costumes, murder, and scant party attire, is undoubtedly among the best ones ever created. During a car breakdown outside of a castle, a married couple discovers a danger to their chastity (and lives). Nearly 50 years later, this skanky rock and roll musical is still a masterpiece.
The Fly (1986)
Halloween is a time for nocturnal monsters and abominable abominations that we have invited into our homes. In The Fly by David Cronenberg, a creature that is already present in the house transforms its host into a monster, somewhat like a reverse vampire tale. Jeff Goldbloom's performance as a scientist who discovers what happens when teleportation evolves into evolution is astounding.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981)
Start off with this PG horror film that has been frightening audiences since the 1980s. An innocent but mentally ill man in the town is the target of a violent mob after the body of a young girl is discovered. But his spirit won't go to sleep, and a scarecrow is out tonight. Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a Halloween delight since it lacks gore yet is incredibly spooky.
Hellraiser (1987)
To complete a real Halloween marathon, the classics must be honored in addition to the current Hulu adaptation. Even by the standards of today, Hellraiser is still intense. Brutally violent and strangely seductive, this tale of forbidden love from the afterlife. The dance of the monsters and the ones who call them by Clive Barker is one of the best movies to end a Halloween night.
28 Days Later (2002)
The movie 28 Days Later is so tense and nasty that it almost seems grotesque. A handful of survivors are searching for refuge four weeks after the UK is destroyed by a virus that turns people into killers. How close can you be to someone if the blood of your loved ones might betray you? The film's terrible reality is enhanced by the low-budget cinematography, but every heartbreakingly gorgeous performance heightens the anguish of witnessing these folks die. Put an exciting cap on the evening.
Popcorn (1991)
You should pay homage to previous marathons with your Halloween streaming marathon. Horror movies, murder, and costumes—all the things that make Halloween so fantastic—are celebrated in the deliciously bloody tribute film Popcorn from 1991. The ideal night of revival horror has been arranged by a group of film students at a nearby closed theatre. The entrance of a psychotic killer with a talent for movie makeup simply couldn't have been planned for. We guarantee that Popcorn is unlike anything you've ever seen.
The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)
The story of a film crew documenting an Alzheimer's patient in The Taking of Deborah Logan starts off like a nightmare before devolving into demonic mayhem. Deborah Logan prepares the viewer to doubt themselves by leaning so strongly upon its emotionally painful subject matter early on. The end result is a great parody of exorcism movies, with Jill Larson giving a standout performance.
It Follows (2014)
It's true that certain 80s slashers had stringent views on having sex before marriage, but It Follows' fatal STI haunting may be the most draconian in all of horror. Jay learns she has been cursed and is always being followed by scary spirits after sleeping with her new boyfriend. Although this movie pioneered the jump scare, its masterful narrative also creates tension in the film's more subdued scenes.
Puppet Master (1989)
Nothing is more dreadful than small, murderous animals hidden in the shadows. The low-budget masterwork by Charles Band continues to be a terrifying fairy tale about ghost hunters who meddle with the wrong puppeteer. Puppet Master knows how to manipulate terror with its stunning monster designs and copious amounts of blood.
Extra Ordinary (2019)
With this miraculous ghost-busting romance horror comedy snooze, escape the horror. Rose had always been special, but having the capacity to communicate with the dead and spirits came at a high price. She is now a driving instructor, and she is a possessed girl and a rock star who helps her return to the afterlife. Finish your Shudder marathon with a surprisingly poignant conclusion and some laughter.
Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
For many years, Fredy Krueger has been cutting up kids in movies while they sleep. What would happen if Freddy managed to get away and into reality, speculates New Nightmare? The meanest, most horrible version of Freddy Krueger ever seen is displayed in this meta nightmare. Wes Craven's New Nightmare may be his greatest; it is devoid of comedy and packed with thrilling moments that defy reality.
Malignant (2021)
Malignant, a continuation of the absurdist body horror style, blends the greatest elements of contemporary Bloomhouse chillers with Italian slasher movies. Madison has experienced images of death her entire life. Her visions become real after a night of the horrifying assault, leading to her being accused of murder. Who might be responsible for the murders, and what do they want? You will scream when you hear the response.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
Start your Hulu Halloween viewing with the happy insanity of Nic Cage's late-career work in Willy's Wonderland. In order to pay for automobile repairs, Cage plays an anonymous drifter who works a midnight cleaning shift at a kids' family amusement park. The mechanical animals at the family amusement park, however, are murderous. The monsters are in trouble because this drifter is hiding secrets of his own. Willy's Wonderland is an impending cult sensation because it is hilariously dark.
Barbarian (2022)
It would be a crime to reveal too much about Barbarian, the best horror film of 2022. You only need to know that when a woman arrives at her AirBnB late at night, she finds that someone else has already rented the property. The events that follow are a nightmare of frequently amusing but always terrifying delights.
